Over many years we have been a part of the vast transformation of many homes offering a wide range of driveway designs with the option of many different materials including asphalt & macaddam, block paving, resin bound and gravel.
Choosing the best driveway to suit you and your home can be difficult so that is why we at L.H. Contractors (EA) Ltd feel it is essential to work closely with our customers to understand their individual needs and requirements and apply our expert advice and experience to ensure we exceed their expectations.
There are many factors that need to be considered when choosing the right driveway for your home or business.
As well as having an aesthetically pleasing driveway that suits you and your property it is equally important that it complies with the new planning laws enforced since October 2008. The new laws have been put in place to reduce the impact of this type of development on flooding and on pollution of watercourses.
You will not need planning permission if your new or replacement driveway of any size uses permeable (or porous) surfacing, such as gravel, permeable concrete block paving or porous asphalt, or if the water is directed to a lawn, border or a rainwater soak away. [Read more ].
L.H. Contractors (EA) Ltd offer a fully comprehensive service and undertake all driveway projects ourselves and do not bring in outside contractors. All work carried out by L.H. Contractors (EA) Ltd on your driveway will be guaranteed for a minimum of 5 years depending on your choice of surface.
ASPHALT
There are many variations of tar macadam and hot rolled asphalt each having its own individual purpose and qualities.
Some are porous to allow surface water to drain through (ideal on a flat surface or where other drainage is not an option). Others can be flexible and there are many different types of finishes to suit specific requirements.
Some tar macadam driveways when laid are porous and allow a high percentage of surface water to drain through and this makes it an ideal choice on driveways as in most cases it requires very little additional drainage which can help keep the cost of your new driveway down.
Hot rolled asphalt provides a much smoother and closed texture surface which does not allow any surface water to drain through.
There are also many different types and colours of resin coated stone which is specifically designed for use with hot rolled asphalt and can give your driveway an individual and decorative finish.
We can arrange to meet with you on site with a variety of samples and offer our expert advice to assist you with choosing the right surface for you and your driveway.
BLOCK PAVING
Block paving is a great choice for driveways and drive entrances due to it being a very versatile and hard wearing surface.
We offer many different designs and styles of paving to suit you and your property from natural cobbles to modern and contemporary designs and materials.
All block paving installed by us is laid on a concrete sub which allows us to guarantee all our completed projects.
RESIN BOUND
Resin bound or bonded surfaces laid by us provide an attractive and low maintenance alternative to other more common driveway surfaces.
Resin bound or bonded products we can provide are available in many different colours and textures.
This type of surface boasts a decorative and or natural appearance which is hard wearing, low maintenance, anti-slip and can be applied to a variety of existing surfaces.
We will inspect your old driveway or path for free to determine the condition and suitability for this product.
GRAVEL
Shingle or Gravel driveways can provide a cheap, cost effective way to improve your driveway or parking area.
Having a shingle or gravel driveway constructed by L.H. Contractors will ensure that your driveway will not subside and will remain free from weeds.
Choosing this type of surface also requires no additional drainage and requires no planning permission.
