This project was on a site of historical interest; which we were fully informed of and briefed that there would be archaeologists present throughout the project.

Our client demanded that all historic structures were sufficiently protected before works commenced.

We excavated the whole area down to a depth of 400mm and carted all material off site to a registered site for recycling. We removed all existing edging kerbs and replaced them with new weathered limestone kerbs to match surrounding buildings.

The new sub base consisted of 300mm of type 2 granite, creating a free draining soakaway under the entire driveway surface. Onto the new sub base we installed a Geotex non woven membrane and 40mm of fine granite bedding.

The bedding layer was then compacted and screeded level with another membrane installed on top of the bedding. The next step was to install the grid system and fill the grids with 10mm gravel.

Our client was pleased with the quality of work and the project was completed on time and within budget.
