PROJECT DETAILSA domestic client approached us to quote for the works after some trial holes and ground survey tests were carried out. Once our client received the results it was passed on to a structural engineer to design.
The design proposed was a reinforced raft foundation. We had to carry out the works without causing excessive damage to our clients existing driveway so we decided to use small plant to excavate the area and remove the surplus excavated material with a grab lorry.
Once excavated, we contacted local building control to inspect the excavation. We then installed 150mm of type 1 sub base and 50mm of sand blinding to protect the damp proof membrane. We installed temporary steel shuttering to the perimeter and set the heights with a laser.
We installed steel reinforcing following the drawings set out by the structural engineer and inspected prior to poring concrete. The concrete was pored into place and vibrated to eliminate any air pockets, tamped level and power floated.
The project was completed on time and within our clients budget.
